This course is aimed at individuals in employment, seeking to progress to financial administrative roles. The aim of this course is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skills and competence to keep bookkeeping records for an organisation.  It provides the learner with the knowledge and understanding of bookkeeping terminology and an introduction to the principles of bookkeeping and accounts

On successful completion of this course learners will be able to

  • Know and understand the importance of good financial record keeping in business and terminology associated with it.
  • Create books of first entry with appropriate VAT.
  • Know and understand course documents for recording keeping including invoices, credit notes, bank statements, receipts and payments.
  • Edit word documents including text, bullets, images and page alignment.
  • Create ledgers using double entry system.
  • Show how to correct errors identified in the record keeping process.
Duration

14 weeks Tuesday evening 6.30 to 9.30pm

Entry Requirement

Junior Certificate or equivalent. If learners do not have Junior Certificate or equivalent, they will have to do an assessment. Individuals should be employed full time, part time or self-employed.
