QQI Inaugural Review of Quality Assurance

In 2018, LOETB completed a re-engagement process, and QQI formally approved LOETB’s quality assurance (QA) procedures. QQI has a responsibility to monitor and review the QA arrangements on a periodic basis. The Inaugural Review of QA in ETBs will take place in 2020. The Terms of Reference for the review are available here and a Handbook outlining the procedural arrangements for the review is available here.
The key phases of the process are as follows:

  1. LOETB's FET Service will undertake a comprehensive and inclusive self-evaluation of the implementation and effectiveness of its QA procedures. This will result in the production of a Self-Evaluation Report by LOETB. All FET Staff will be involved in this process through various methods. FET learners, employers, community partners, and other partners will also be consulted during this self-evaluation process, which will take place during March and April 2020.
  2. QQI will appoint an external Review Team to evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of LOETB’s QA procedures. This will include reviewing the Self-Evaluation Report and discussing LOETB’s quality system with a broad range of ETB staff, learners and stakeholders over the course of a week-long visit to LOETB (26th to 30th November 2020).
  3. The review process will result in the production of an independent Review Report by the QQI Review Team, which will identify a number of findings, commendations and recommendations on the operation of LOETB’s QA system.
  4. LOETB will be asked to provide a formal response to the Report, which will be included in the published Report.
  5. LOETB will then prepare an Action Plan to address the issues identified in the review.
  6. LOETB will provide a Follow-up Report on its progress against the actions outlined in its Action Plan.

Anne Marie Keane, FET Manager (Quality Assurance) will coordinate this process.

A Self Evaluation Steering Group has been set up with representatives from FET Centre/Service staff and management, administration, Schools, external stakeholders (employers, higher education and community representatives) to oversee and guide the Self-Evaluation process, and to draft the Self-Evaluation Report.

This page will be updated as the project progresses.
